Van Just Like Me naar Cats in the Cradle

Muziek blijft een bron van inspiratie en vice versa. Zaterdagmiddag hadden we in de auto Bloom: Remix album van Sarah McLachlan aan staan. Komen we op een stukje refrein in Just Like Me dat ons aan het denken bracht over het origineel. Blijkt het stukje inclusief gitaarspel gejat te zijn van Harry Chapin. Klazien kende de versie van Ugly Kid Joe. Ten onrechte associeren mensen het nummer met bijvoorbeeld Guns N Roses of Cat Stevens, zo blijkt uit de scherpe auteurs van Wikipedia.

Cat's in the Cradle is the story of a father who is too busy to spend time with his son. As the son grows older, he admires his father and wants to grow up in his image. After the son becomes a man, the father is eager to spend time with him, to make up for lost time. The son, however, is too busy with his own work and family to spend time with his father. The father discovers that his son has grown up to be just like him.
