Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 11-20 May 2021

Each day I add music to my soundtrack to 2021 Spotify playlist. Here is the second batch for May.

Tuesday 11 May: Elmara – Training

Relaxing soundscapes after conducting a full day training followed by two meetings that kept me busy from 8 AM to 6 PM.

Wednesday 12 May: P!nk – Cover Me in Sunshine

“Cover me in sunshine, shower me with good times.” sings P!nk on her new single. It’s beautiful, green, sunny outside. Let’s finish work and enjoy a long weekend off. P!nk’s All I Know So Far movie will have its premiere 21 May on Amazon Prime Video.

Thursday 13 May: SADBoii – A Thousand Miles

This #throwbackthursday it’s SADBoii‘s turn to rework Vanessa Carlton‘s A Thousand Miles (2002) to an upbeat retrowave track.

Friday 14 May: Delta Goodrem – The Power

Australian singer/songwriter Delta Goodrem released her Bridge Over Troubled Dreams album today. I selected The Power to accompany this day.

Saturday 15 May: Martin Garrix, Bono & The Edge – We Are The People

Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix (stage name of Martijn Gerard Garritsen) invited U2‘s Bono and THe Edge to collaborate on We Are the People, the official European soccer championship anthem. Martin was surprised that Bono altered literally every word of the song. Strings were played by Frank van Essen (Iona). Results count! UEFA’s Euro 2020 will be held from 11 June – 11 July 2021.

Sunday 16 May: Eline Bakker – Alles Waard

Sylvia, a woman who was baptized in our church service this morning shared Alles Waard (Worth everything) by Eline Bakker, a song of surrender to Jesus Christ.

Monday 17 May: Noa & Mira Awad – There Must Be Another Way

It’s wonderful to see Noa (Achinoam Nini) sharing the stage again with Mira Awad and testifying about a joint (!) Israeli-Arab demonstration for peace these days. Rather than praying for the peace of (Jewish) Jerusalem alone, or leaning towards the Palestinians, God challenges us to seek peace. There must be another way than launching rockets or dropping bombs. Both vocalists are dedicated to promoting equality and human solidarity and the co-existence of Israelis and Palestinians in peace.

Tuesday 18 May: Jody Mayfield & Heidi McLaughlin – Sunshine and Rain

While I conducted a full-day training, had meetings afterward, sunshine and rain alternated.

Wednesday 19 May: Thom Merlin & Andrea Hamilton – No One Hurries Time

For everything, there’s a time under heaven. Stretch exercise, meals, work from home, a daily walk, and a gathering with church members in the evening.

Thursday 20 May: The Birthday Massacre – The Neverending Story

I heard this cover of The Neverending Story (1984) on Synthpop radio. Canadian rock band The Birthday Massacre gives it a heavy synth-rock treatment on #throwbackthursday
