Each day I add music to my soundtrack to 2021 Spotify playlist. Here is the second batch for January.
Monday 11 January: Amy Lee & Dave Eggar – Lockdown
The lockdown continues. Evanescence’s Amy Lee already in 2014 sang about it.
Tuesday 12 January: Color Theory – Mages
Last Friday Color Theory released a new single, Mages. Brian Hazard grew up a nerd: a computer nerd, a comics nerd, and a Dungeons & Dragons nerd. His new single capitalizes on the latter, wishing into existence the sorceress of his dreams.
Wednesday 13 January: Dimi Dumo – Zon en rege
Sun and rain were alternating today. Belgian singer Dimi Dumo sings about it.
Thursday 14 January: Silas Armstrong – I Love You Always Forever
Friday 15 January: Eixo – Love Me Better
Eixo is releasing a new song every one or two weeks throughout 2021. The American songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer was born in Brazil. For him, the emotion in the song is everything.
Saturday 16 January: Arya Zappa – Cut Grass
Sunday 17 January: Israel Houghton – Friend of God
The national week of prayer started today. This year’s theme #blijfinmijnliefde (#stayinmylove) is taken from the gospel of John chapter 15. Daily verse 16 in its context of verses 14-16, where Jesus Christ tells: “You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. 16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.” Israel Houghton‘s contribution testifies to this truth.
Monday 18 January: Sela – Blijf in Mij
On the second day of the national week of prayer, Jesus Christ says in John 15 verse 4: “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” Dutch band Sela has the song of the day with Blijf in Mij (Remain in Me).
Tuesday 19 January: Graham Kendrick – Love Each Other
Wednesday 20 January: Bethel Music – No Longer Slaves
The verses on the fourth day of the national week of prayer: “You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.”, taken from John 15 verses 14-15. Bethel Music delivers the accompanying song.
