Each day I add music to my soundtrack to 2020 Spotify playlist. Here’s the list for the third batch in November.
Saturday 21 November: Nena – Licht
The title track of Nena‘s fresh release Licht (light) is my favorite today.
Sunday 22 November: Pristina featuring Jayne Cawthon – Hope Against Hope
Out of the many Bible verses shared in this morning service’s sermon one struck me in particular. Paul in Romans 4 verse 18 states that “Abraham, against all hope, believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, ‘So shall thy seed be.'”, in the original Greek “…ὃς παρ᾽ ἐλπίδα ἐπ᾽ ἐλπίδι ἐπίστευσεν εἰς τὸ γενέσθαι αὐτὸν πατέρα πολλῶν ἐθνῶν κατὰ τὸ εἰρημένον· οὕτως ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα σου·..” Hope against hope, what a great expression.
It immediately reminded me of Jayne Cawthon‘s lyrics to Hope Against Hope that was produced by Joey Belville and Will Foster for their The Echoing Green side project Pristina in 2010. Unfortunately, Hope Against Hope is not available on Spotify. The lyric video, however, is on Youtube. Enjoy!

Tuesday 24 November: Grandbrothers – Bloodflow
Searching for a song with blood, donate or plasma to illustrate another visit to Sanquin blood bank, I stumbled upon Grandbrothers‘ Bloodflow. And, wait, I know the track. Wasn’t it used in a movie? Yes, in December 2019 I went to a cinema in Amsterdam to watch the French movie Hors Normes for which Bloodflow is the main tune. The song was featured in the soundtrack to 2019 too, but I still love the pulsating tune.

Friday 27 November: Annie – The Streets Where I Belong
Norwegian synth-pop DJ and record producer, Anne Lilia Berge Strand a.k.a Annie, released her fourth studio album and first one in eleven years, Dark Hearts with 13 soft synth-pop tunes and regretful lyrics.

Sunday 29 November: Koinonia – Talk About It
There’s enough to talk about today: church service in the morning, a daily walk in the early afternoon, and lots to catch up with my mother in the afternoon and evening. Let’s select jazz-rock band Koinonia to help me out.

I want to have you, a love song by the Swedish singer Lisa Ajax to end November on a positive note.
