Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 1-10 March 2020

Each day I add music to my soundtrack to 2020 Spotify playlist. Here’s the list for the first ten days in March 2020.

Sunday 1 March 2020: Joan Armatrading – Temptation

In Saturday night’s church services at the Centre for Transcultural Psychology, the pastor played Temptation (1985) by Joan Armatrading to illustrate this week’s Scripture reading on the temptation of Jesus Christ in the desert from Matthew 4.

Monday 2 March 2020: Silky Smooth Billy – Cartooning Out

Part 1 of the Zakelijk Tekenen (cartooning in a business context) tonight at the Capgemini Academy, Utrecht.

Tuesday 3 March 2020: Arcadia 87 – Train Factory

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are spent in de Werkspoorkathedraal, a former train factory.

Wednesday 4 March 2020: WOLFCLUB – Electrify

Where the Frontiers album is labeled retrowave, listen to its opening track and single WOLFCLUB‘s Electrify to conclude thet CHVRCHES is nearby.

Thursday 5 March 2020: Audrey Assad – The Middle

Audrey Assad has a guilty pleasure covering one of my favorite 160 bpm songs to run to, The Middle by Jimmy Eat World. I don’t think the average ‘though provoking troubadour’ Audrey Assad fan on the safe Christian Contemporary Music side is aware of the setting of the video clip to the original Jimmy Eat World 2010 hit. Well, here are both versions.

Friday 6 March 2020: Mensenkinderen – Texel

We’re off to Texel for a weekend of sea, dunes, relaxation, walks, and cycling. Mensenkinderen made a song about vacation on the isle of Texel in 2014.

Saturday 7 March 2020: Maíre Brennan – Against the Wind

First half of our 60kms cycle tour on the isle of Texel went well, the second half was against the strong wind. The first lady of Celtic music, Maíre / Moya Brennan, among others, wrote a song about this.

Sunday 8 March 2020: Faster Pussycat – Charge Me Up

My Kia e-Niro had to be charged at the Fastned station near Abbekerk, and then home again to have enough power to drive the next days.

Monday 9 March 2020: Robert Gasparik – Draw Me, Sketch Me, Trace Me

Second and last part of business cartoon drawing training tonight.

Tuesday 10 March 2020: Ane Brun – Don’t Run and Hide

It’s important to be transparent, available and facilitating at work to support the people entrusted to you.
