Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 2019: 11-20 July

Each day I add music to my soundtrack to 2019 Spotify playlist. Here’s the list for the second leg of July 2019.

Thursday 11 July: Elyxr – Heart of Glass

It’s #throwbackthursday A synthpop remake by Elyxr of the Blondie 80’s disco hit Heart of Glass. To clean up your memory lane, here’s the video of the original, followed by the cover. And, guess what? Blondie’s still active.

Friday 12 July: flor – ley lines

I grabbed a few tracks from today’s Release Radar playlist. The first song I’d like to share with you is flor‘s ley lines. Poignant pop.

Saturday 13 July: Bende van Baflo Bill – Cafe Toremolinos

Fake Spanish, real dialect of the Dutch province of Groningen to make you smile. Nonsense and fun by De Bende van Baflo Bill.

Sunday 14 July: Freya Ridings – Castles

UK singer Freya Ridings is going to be your castle.

Monday 15 July: Switchfoot – The Hardest Art

Tonight I’m attending Switchfoot live in concert in Melkweg, Amsterdam, as part of the band’s European leg of the Native Tongue Tour. I picked Jon Foreman collaboration with Kaela Sinclair.

Tuesday 16 July: Ingrid Michaelson – Young and in Love

Think of Chvrches meeting Katie Herzig. The resulting sound’s Ingrid Michaelson‘s new album Stranger Songs. I handpicked Young and in Love.

Wednesday 17 July: Anita Ward – Ring My Bell

Today, a package with our new doorbell was delivered. Rather than showcasing all 28 melodies I selected a classic one by Anita Ward: Ring My Bell (1979).

Thursday 18 July: Violet Skies – I’ll Buy a House

Future tense became present today.

Friday 19 July: Kingslynn – Give and Take

From today’s Release Radar I picked a couple of interesting tracks. One of these is the new Kingslynn single to follow-up Into the White Light (2017).

Saturday 20 July: Goldroom – Nothing Matters

The second item from Friday’s Release Radar is Goldroom’s latest: Nothing Matters, new music since the debut album West of the West (2017)
