A new batch of contributions to Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 2018 in Spotify. A retrospective of the past eleven days, the final batch for 2018. Don’t worry, next year I’ll be back with a new evolving playlist.
Friday 21 December: By An Ion – Falling Apart (The New Division remix)
Saturday 22 December: Hailee Steinfeld – Back to Life (80s remix)
Sunday 23 December: Ruelle – Where We Come Alive
Although Ruelle’s song was featured in Google Year in search 2018, my discovery of the singer took a different route. Indie Music Vision’s Weekly New Release Sampler hinted me at the pop song without a need to search on Google. “Out of the shadows and into the light. Bringing the unknown. This is where we come alive.”
Monday 24 December: Valleyheart – Heaven & Hell
Rock around the Christmas tree. New music from Valleyheart. “Make me something beautiful. Like stained glass in a church of old. Where light shines through and makes us new again. A cleansing fire for all my mess.”
Tuesday 25 December: Trinity – Meesterwerk Van Liefde
Christmas, God’s masterpiece of love is celebrated by the Dutch band Trinity.
Wednesday 26 December: Hillsong Worship – Noel
Thursday 27 December: James Last – Schlittenfahrt zum Weihnachtsmarkt
Today, we visited the Christmas markets in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Friday 28 December: Ben Hobbs – Blind to You (Catherine Duc ‘Stargazing’ remix)
Saturday 29 December: Alphaville – Love Will Find A Way
While Alphaville‘s Big In Japan already was featured on 26 December in the yearly NPO Radio Top 2000 chart, a brand new song for the season by this band is Love Will Find A Way. Actually, the song was written during a recording session for Catching Rays on Giant (2010), end of November 2007 on the island Sylt and finally released to the public now.
Sunday 30 December: La Incontenible Banda Astilleros – 10 Kílometros a Pie
Today, Klazien, Lieske and I participated in the 10 kilometers run event Brink tot Brinkloop from Deventer to Bathmen.
Monday 31 December: Spargo vs Jazzi Bobbi – You and Me
The 1980 hit You and Me by the Dutch disco band Spargo met a Vodafone campaign in 2018. Lead singer and composer Ellert Driesen‘s daughter, DJ and producer Jazzi Bobbi re-recorded and remixed the song, interviewed band members. One of the few recent commercials I’m really fond of.
