Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 2018: 21-31 August

The last batch of contributions to Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 2018 in Spotify this month. A memorable song each day. A retrospective of the past 10 days.

Tuesday 21 August: Brioni Faith – Be Here Now

Danceable industrial synth tune connecting dance to the present.

Wednesday 22 August: Tobymac – Everything

Thursday 23 August: Exile – Kiss You All Over

The new video clip for this classic hit was recommended by Youtube. I embedded the original Exile 1978 version from Spotify.

Friday 24 August: Eixo – Just Tired

Salt Lake City-based synth pop band Eixo recently started to follow my Instagram account. Their latest single, Just Tired, is featured today.

Saturday 25 August: Aurora – Forgotten Love

Feelings of saying goodbye. We’re leaving Croatia northbound.

Sunday 26 August: Death Cab for Cutie – Northern Lights

Death Cab for Cutie release Thank You for Today last week. Northern Lights is a fine track of these guys.

Monday 27 August: Color Theory – Too Many Knives

In early summer, ZAKERY contacted Brian Hazard (Color Theory) out of the blue on Twitter to tell me how much he liked “Monastery” from Sketches in Grey. He then took a month or so to study his music and put together an arrangement blending both of their styles. The result: Too Many Knives that’s slated to be on ZAKERY’s upcoming album.

Tuesday 28 August: Jess Glynne – All That I Am

UK singer Jess Glynne previously collaborated with Dutch DJ Tiësto for Take Me Home in 2016. Earlier this year These Days, Mind on It and I’ll Be There were released. Maybe a full album is now on its way. The alternative: a single by single approach like so many contempoary artists do.

Wednesday 29 August: Marsheaux – Exit (The Wrong Way)

Heaviliy influenced by 80’s synth arpeggios, here’s the Exit by Greek synth pop duo Marsheaux.

Thursday 30 August: Alessandra Amoroso – La Stessa

The new single, La Stessa by Italian singer Alessandra Amoroso seems to be the colorful sequel to 2016’s Vivere a Colori (living in color) album, watching the video clip.

Friday 31 August: Mae – Let It Die

Mae is dealing with pain in the new single Let It Die: cry and show forgiveness!
