Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 2018: 1-10 July

Another set of contributions to Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 2018 in Spotify. A memorable song each day. A retrospective on the past 10 days.

Sunday 1 July: Roosevelt – Under the Sun

One week ago German act Roosevelt (real name: Marius Lauber) issued Under the Sun. In November he will perform at several Belgian and Dutch stages. Sounds like a full album coming up.

Monday 2 July: Armin van Buuren & Josh Cumbee – Sunny Days

100% summer these days.

Tuesday 3 July: Maitro – Training Day

At six Tuesday nights in a row I provide PRINCE2 Practitioner training after work hours. Fun to do, but getting home late isn’t.

Wednesday 4 July: Daniel Amos – Ordinary, Extraordinary Day

In all aspects this Wednesday has been an ordinary, extraordinary Day. Was it coincidence that this Daniel Amons song from their 2001 Mr. Buechner’s Dream album played in the car on my way home?

Thursday 5 July: Color Theory – The Fifth of July

Brian Hazard aka Color Theory tells: “This song is about the morning after, when spirits are low, fuses are short, and patriotism has returned to baseline levels. The streets are covered in black powder and shredded paper, and the smell of sulphur lingers in the air. Listen closely and you’ll hear fireworks burst on every fourth hit of the snare drum.”

Friday 6 July: Gareth Emery & Evan Henzi – Call to Arms

Marching on this catchy call to arms.

Saturday 7 July: André Rieu – Can’t Help Falling In Love

With my wife I went to see André Rieu in concert at the Vrijthof in Maastricht. One of the many songs that were played with the Johan Strauss Orchestra, was the classic Can’t Help Falling in Love.

Sunday 8 July: Ay Wing – Ice Cream Dream

Monday 9 July: Neon Feather & Chris Cron – Between U and Me

Power pop to fuel this Monday.

Tuesday 10 July: Let’s Eat Grandma – Falling Into Me

Let’s Eat Grandma will be supporting Chvrches on their fall tour. Plenty of time to get to know this UK duo. I’m All Ears.
