As follow-up to 2016’s HotSpotify 366 challenge, for which I added one special song each day to a Spotify playlist, I created Henk-Jan’s soundtrack to 2017 in Spotify. A memorable song each day. A retrospective on the past 10 days.
Tuesday 1 August: The Script – Rain
Rain is abundant this summer in various parts of Europe. Did The Script know this prior to releasing their new single from Freedom Child?
Wednesday 2 August: Fifth Harmony – I’m in Love With a Monster
During the holidays it’s fun with our daughters if the music is on. Marianne found out while I was playing Beckah Shae‘s Mighty, that the song is more than a resemblance to Fifth Harmony‘s I’m In Love With a Monster. Today Fifth Harmony.
Thursday 3 August: Beckah Shae – Mighty
See yesterday’s explanation. Compare the songs yourself.
Friday 4 August: Plastic Bertrand – Ca plane pour moi
Running through the French hills of Picardie works fine for me. Belgian artist Plastic Bertrand‘s Ca plane pour moi (this works for me) is on my Running on 160 bpm playlist. The French connection’s.
Saturday 5 August: GAWVII, Julissa Leilani & Robbie Lee – Closer
Smooth pop tune on the way back from France to The Netherlands.
Sunday 6 August: July Child – Be Real
July’s over, August is here to stay for another 25 days. July Child is an electronic pop duo from London. They already toured with Billing & Status and Martin Garrix. Be Real is their new single, reminiscent of Ace of Base.
Monday 7 August: Amber Pacific – Feels So Right
Back from holidays in France. As if the summer vibes had to be in these 2 weeks only 😉 “Let’s get down for the summer. Chilling all night, kicking it back. Yeah, feels so right.” I provided a full-day training course, not really an environment to start in slow-motion.
Tuesday 8 August: Rag’n’Bone Man – As You Are
More summer vibes today. Rag’n’Bone Man was with us on our vacation trip to France.
Wednesday 9 August: Wrabel & Magical Thinker – It’s You
In the abundance of songs in the New Music Friday and Release Radar playlists last Friday, this one stood out.
Thursday 10 August: Christafari – Soul Fire
Last Sunday I wrote the review for Hearts of Fire, the new album from gospelreggae band Christafari. They’re active since 1989, and still going strong. The remake of Soul Fire, title track of a classic Christafari album now is bonus track on their latest. Welcome to #throwbackthursday
