On August 19 the American violinist Lindsey Stirling (1986) released her third studio album Brave Enough. Crowd funding through PledgeMusic guaranteed the recording. After enjoying The Arena ever since 28 June, and the instrumental Prism, produced by Robert DeLong, since mid-August, the full album with 14 new songs and collaborations is there to soothe your speakers. Electronica-infused drum parts and synth layers as a foundation to the instrumental The Phoenix follows the pattern laid in the previously mentioned singles. Harp and electronic percussion lead the way in Lost Girls, the album opener. Dub step samples meet triumph march music.
The title track features Christina Perri, resembling an average The Corrs power pop song. Other collaborations include the singer songwriter Carah Faye in Where Do We Go, country duo Dan + Shay in Those Days, singer songwriter ZZ Ward in Hold My Heart, and Indian dancer and singer Raja Kumari in Mirage. To manage your expectations: no, Stirling is sonically consistent offering electro pop with her violin in the spot lights. She puts her signature to each song and doesn’t switch from country to R&B, except for the EDM meets Bollywood pop in Mirage.
Two other instrumentals, First Light and the closing track Gavi’s Song are alternated with interesting combinations. Don’t Let This Feeling Fade features Rivers Cuomo and rapper Lecrae, Love’s Just a Feeling brings Rooty to the microphone, while Lindsey leans on Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness in Something Wild, which already got its own video.
The Deluxe Edition of the album, also featured on Spotify, contains 4 instrumental bonus tracks: Waltz, Afterglow, Powerlines, and Forgotten Voyages.
