Max Lucado‘s latest book explores the biblical book of Acts. The early years of christian church demonstrate what we as believers are supposed to live up to. It’s no self-help, success story, but a reflection of the two Great Commandments: love God, love people. A call to action for all of us, ordinary people, to get unshelled, team up, open our doors and hearts, see the need and touch the hearts. As all royalties will benefit children and families through World Vision, one can imagine that illustrations from mission trips and ministries are used alongside the stories of the Peter, Philip, Stephan, Paul, Ananias and Sapphira from Acts. To be counted as the ‘sheep’ asking Jesus ‘When did we feed, visit, clothe or comfort you?’ we need to pray first, pray most, include, not write off anyone, stand up for the have-nots, and blast a few walls every now and then. Let’s face persecution, knowing Who holds and protects us. We are given a choice, an opportunity to make a big difference during a difficult time, just as first-century christians.
